  • Artist Bio

    B. Keith Brandon, Jr. aka BKB2 (b. 1978, Manhasset, New York; raised in Hempstead, New York) is an abstract artist based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Using pencil, marker, color pencils, Acrylic paint, and various types of paper serve as primary media. His work is led to provoke the viewer's eye through unique abstract visual movement by the manipulation of use of line, shapes, color, texture, and pattern. This style of abstraction was birthed and inspired by provoking the viewer's eye to travel throughout each art piece, getting lost in their own recognition, imagination, personal experience, perspective, and life story as he did during the first creation.

Keith earned his Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from Hobart College in 2001 and a Master of Education in General Studies from St. Lawrence University in 2004. As CEO and Lead Artist at BKB2 Designs LLC, he has exhibited in group shows at the James Oliver Gallery (2025), the Old City Jewish Arts Center (2024), and Rowan University's SOAR Recovery themed Juried Art Exhibition in Savitz Hall (2026).

  • Artist Statement

My mixed-media drawings and paintings are my way of temporarily escaping the challenges of life through the use of line, shapes, color, texture, and pattern to manipulate visual movement in my unique abstract style. I am led to create a visual journey provoking the viewer's eye to travel throughout each art piece getting lost in their own recognition, imagination, personal experience, perspective, and life story.

I explore how visual movement can be a calming, coping strategy, or distraction for those seeking support or growth in emotional intelligence, trauma-informed care, restorative justice, self-care, well-being, belonging, and or mental health. Marker, color pencils, Acrylic paint, and various types of paper serve as my primary media. As much as I attempt to orchestrate a proposed use of line, shape, color, texture, and pattern there are always visual detours of creativity and an unexpected path which leads to a place of safety, peace, and freedom.
